Open for daily service 10am – 4pm Thursday – Saturday (From 5th March 2026)

It’s back! We couldn’t be happier to welcome you through the doors again!

Alongside the Riverside Gallery, Sun Pier House Café is now open Thursday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm. We’re starting gently as we find our rhythm again, offering light lunches, homemade soups, and a tempting selection of cakes and bakes. Our menu will grow over time, but for now we’re keeping things simple, fresh, and made with care.

As we reopen, we’re committed to creating a warm, friendly space with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. We’re setting our standards high, but we’re also learning and evolving, so please bear with us in these early days. Your feedback, ideas, and suggestions are genuinely welcome; this café belongs to the community as much as it does to us.

We’re especially proud to be relaunching our supported work placements in partnership with Bemix. Offering internships for people with additional needs is a hugely important part of who we are. It does mean that sometimes things may take a little longer, but we believe it’s worth it and we’re so grateful for your patience and encouragement. Your support helps create meaningful opportunities and real confidence for our interns.

The View

Perched on the top floor of Sun Pier House, our café offers stunning panoramic views of the River Medway, stretching from Rochester Castle to Upnor Castle. This peaceful spot provides a welcome escape from the bustle of Chatham High Street and is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere Thursday – Saturday.

With its warm and welcoming feel, the café features cosy leather couches, antique tables, and vintage-inspired seating, creating a relaxed environment where visitors can unwind, connect, and enjoy the view. Our fully licensed bar is also open during select events, offering drinks and light refreshments.

As a not-for-profit arts organisation, everything we do supports local artists, makers, and community groups across Medway. Every visit helps sustain creative opportunities for the wider community.

Exciting Accessibility Update!

We’re thrilled to announce that our lift opened in May 2025, making our venue fully accessible to all. This long-awaited improvement opens up Sun Pier House to even more visitors, artists, and community groups, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity.
