Kids Aloud – FREE Family-friendly Gallery Sessions
Kids Aloud is a brand-new, family-friendly gallery experience at Sun Pier House that flips the script on how children and families explore contemporary art.
During Kids Aloud, we turn the gallery into a space full of curiosity, conversation, movement and yes, noise! We actively encourage children to talk, ask questions, and respond to the artwork in their own way.
Traditional galleries can feel intimidating, especially when children feel pressure to stay quiet and still. Kids Aloud removes that pressure. We create a playful, relaxed, and welcoming environment where families explore art together and enjoy a lively, joyful atmosphere.

What to expect?
You’ll find interactive activity tables throughout the gallery, packed with creative options for all ages. Families can jump into colouring sheets, drawing prompts, creative worksheets, and hands-on making inspired by the current exhibitions. Whether your child loves to sketch, doodle, build, or simply observe, Kids Aloud sparks imagination and creativity
Instead of standing silently in front of artworks, children share ideas, start conversations, and respond creatively. Grown-ups join in too, turning the visit into a shared experience of play and artistic discovery.
Move through the gallery at your own pace. Wander, create, explore, or settle at an activity table, there’s no right or wrong way to take part.
All bases covered
The Sun Pier House café stays open during Kids Aloud, serving drinks, kid-friendly snacks, and light refreshments so families can refuel and relax.
We design Kids Aloud to be inclusive and accessible. We provide children’s noise-cancelling headphones, baby-changing facilities in all toilets, children’s loo seats, and emergency nappies and wipes.
