The Riverside Gallery
Discover The Riverside Gallery – A Leading Exhibition Space in Medway
The Riverside Gallery, perched on the second floor of Sun Pier House, offers stunning views of the River Medway and a light-filled, open-plan layout. This distinctive gallery provides an inspiring setting for artists and audiences to connect, reflect, and engage with contemporary art.
Since opening in 2014, it has hosted a wide variety of exhibitions and events. These have included work by local creatives as well as internationally renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Bartosz Beda, and Billy Childish. As a result, the gallery has become a key exhibition space in Medway and a vital part of the region’s cultural landscape.
The space offers ample wall and floor areas, ideal for everything from traditional wall-mounted works to immersive installations, multimedia displays, and live performances. Furthermore, the gallery’s flexible layout makes it easy to adapt for solo shows, group exhibitions, and curated projects.
Conveniently located next to the popular Sun Pier House Café, the gallery attracts a steady flow of visitors. This proximity boosts exposure and creates a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for guests.

- Available for a two week or four week hire
- Easy to use hanging system across all gallery walls
- Two lockable glass display cabinets included (if required)
- Assistance with marketing and promotion of the exhibition though the Sun Pier House website, social media and mailing lists using information provided by you.
- An invigilated space alongside a public café
- Open Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays 10am – 4pm
- One evening opening on a Thursday 4pm – 8pm as part of our Gallery Lates programme, which can be combined with an exhibition launch night or private view if required (bar open)
- Sun Pier House “make-good” and manage the maintenance through out the show.
- Sun Pier House manage all sales and takes 25% commission.

Sun Pier House Café
Art and Cake – what more could you want!
The Sun Pier House Café is a welcoming social space situated alongside The Riverside Gallery, offering a relaxed and vibrant environment for small art exhibitions. With teal-coloured walls and a secure hanging system in place, the café provides an ideal backdrop for showcasing creative work. Soft café lighting enhances the atmosphere, creating a comfortable and engaging setting for visitors to enjoy art alongside a cup or tea and cake.
For added convenience, one lockable display cabinet is available for artists wishing to display or sell their work. This flexible and accessible space is perfect for emerging creatives, intimate exhibitions, or pop-up showcases looking to connect with the local community.
Exhibition space is available for £75 plus VAT for a two-week period, providing an affordable and attractive opportunity to exhibit alongside a steady flow of café visitors.
