Our Advisory Board

Sun Pier House Advisory Board is a team of people made up of from different sections of the local community, art, and voluntary organisations from across Medway and Kent. Together they help us make decisions about our programming, business development, best practice, and the support we offer our local communities through our events and projects.

Peter Vogel

Chief Executive at Medway Plus a community charity

Peter has 40 years experience working in the Community for four diverse Local Authorities. Since 2007, Peter’s focus has been working to improve the quality of life for the residents of Medway’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

Lucy Medhurst

Arts Consultant / Mentor

Lucy is a senior professional with a visual arts background and an MA in Arts and Cultural Management. Lucy is a strong advocate for creative education, place-based commissioning and co-curation.

Steven Burgess

Head of Events and Exhibitions at The National Archives

Steven has extensive experience as project manager for nationally recognised exhibitions, public engagement and creative programming.

Päivi Seppälä

Director at LV21

Päivi is an artist and a creative producer specialising in community participatory cultural projects that affect positive social change. She has developed a number of creative education programmes and project managed a range of high profile public art projects and festivals for private and public sector, both nationally and internationally.

Libbie Watson

Freelance Artist

Libbie joined our advisory board as part of her placement with Re-Generation 2031 – a Creative Estuary project, which is enabling more young people to access creative careers and champion the next generation of creative talent. Libbie works as a freelance artist and facilitator for Sun Pier House, MESS ROOM and other community organisations with a passion for getting young people involved in the arts.

Janet Moore

Communtiy Director, Electric Medway

Janet is co-founder of Electric Medway CIC, an arts organisation working with communities and new technology across Medway, delivering an annual flagship digital Festival. With a background in working with young people, Janet loves helping communities tell their unheard stories, is a member of the Medway Cultural Educational Partnership, and is a “Strood girl through and through”

Louise Nevett

Artist & illustrator, Sun Pier House Resident

As one of our studio residents, Louise has been with us at Sun Pier House since the beginning of our journey. Louise works as a free-lance illustrator and has produced work for magazines, journals and over fifty books. She has taught art to young people at a pupil referral unit and still runs adult art classes today.

Erika Collison

Operations Manager

Erika comes from a background within the voluntary sector, community development and finance management, as well as a spell of primary school teaching. Before joining Ideas Test in 2022, she worked as a community librarian and library manager with Medway Libraries. She enjoys working with people, managing and organising information, and filling her life with ‘stuff’.

Steven Keevil

Co-Director of Medwayish & Columnist at Local Authority News

Steven has wide experience working in Medway, as a writer, educator and commentator. As well as working in the charitable sector, he has been covering the arts and politics in Medway, endeavouring to improve local journalism, when not walking his dog or reading a lot of books.
