BIG DRAW little people was BACK for Summer 2023!
Thank you to everyone who joined Libbie in the Riverside Gallery for a summer of FREE artist-led workshops spanning over the 6-week school holidays, every Thursday between 10.30 – 11.30 am and 1.30 – 2.30 pm.
The gallery space had lots of drawing-inspired activities and hints left out for you to create and add to our gallery walls. The Gallery was open 10 am – 4 pm on workshop days for you to drop by and join in.
The activities were suitable for all artistic abilities, for ages 3 to 12 years old and all materials were provided. Any artwork created was added to the walls as part of the ‘BIG DRAW little people’ event which runs throughout August. Children collected a certificate for their work and on becoming a Gallery artist which gave you major bragging rights for show and tell in September!
We are easily accessible by bus and train or there is a pay-and-display car park onsite. Unfortunately, there is no step free access to the Gallery, but we can help carry buggies up the stairs if needed – give us a call for more information on 01634 401 549.
27th July 10.30 & 1.30
In this session, we will be doodling to create The Big Draw Doodle Mural. Using large, 2m pieces of paper and pens/pencils, young creatives will be inspired to use their imagination to make their mark on the mural that will continually be added to for the duration of BIG DRAW little people.
3rd August 10.30 & 1.30
Wondering what on earth is an ‘Exquisite Corpse’…? Well, Exquisite Corpse (Cadavre Exquis) is a game invented by Surrealist artists in the 1920s to create crazy and unexpected drawings! Create a booklet of changing bodies to make your very own unexpected character drawings.
10th August 10.30 & 1.30
Join local resident artist Marissa Mardon in a special session in the Riverside Gallery. She will teach you to create abstract drawings from letters or words, maybe you will choose your name or initials, the name of a loved one or pet, or maybe your home town?
17th August 10.30 & 1.30
‘Scribbles? Is that really… art?’
Fun fact: You do not have to have amazing drawing skills to be an artist! We will be turning 3 types of scribbles into works of art from mini monsters to abstract pictures to go up on our gallery walls.
