MESS ROOM CONNECTS – CELEBRATION
1st March – 31st March

We’re beyond excited to launch our first exhibition of 2025 and our first in the new Creation Space!
Long- term Sun Pier House residents, MESS ROOM are celebrating the end of their fantastic 12-month project MESS ROOM Connects – supported by National Lottery Project Grant funding from Arts Council England with a new Exhibition!
A Showcase of Community Creativity
This exhibition is a vibrant reflection of the artistic journeys taken by MESS ROOM participants. They’ve worked closely with Kent Association for the Blind (KAB) members, local artists, and their Peer Arts groups to present a dynamic, tactile collection that welcomes everyone to engage with and enjoy art in their own way.
The Impact of Participatory Arts
This exhibition is more than an art display—it’s a celebration of community, co-creation, and inclusion. Participatory arts create spaces where people can connect, express themselves, and share experiences in meaningful ways. MESS ROOM Connects has championed art as a tool for expression, confidence-building, and social connection, ensuring that creative opportunities are accessible to all.
By working alongside blind and partially sighted artists, MESS ROOM explored ways to make art more inclusive, using touch and storytelling to offer a truly tactile experience. Rather than adapting art as an afterthought, they’ve embraced diverse ways of engaging with creativity, ensuring that everyone can participate on equal terms.

“This exhibition is a real celebration – it’s tactile, it’s exciting, it’s vibrant! Co-creation is at the heart of everything we do – I ask the participants to trust me, developing ideas and finding methods that they feel confident using – always person centred. Just wait till you see what we have achieved!”
